EV charging glossary

What is EV roaming?

Roaming lets a driver charge on another operator’s network with their usual app or card. The networks connect directly over OCPI, or through a roaming hub that connects many operators at once, and settle payments between themselves.

Without roaming, a driver needs a separate app or card for each network. With it, an eMSP can offer a wide map of chargers it does not operate, and a CPO earns revenue from drivers it does not have a contract with.
